Tom Tongs, previously an Officer in the Royal Engineers, joined Galbraith in 2019. He made a presentation about careers as a building surveyor at the Officers’ Association Scotland property sector event in Forres.
Heather McVeigh, Chief Executive of the Officers’ Association Scotland, said: “We were delighted to have Tom from Galbraith speak at our employers’ event in Forres. We work closely with employers to demonstrate that hiring military is good for business and having representatives there who showcase this fine example enables that message to be spread far and wide. Tom also inspired those military personnel, looking for that next career, that their vast array of skills, experience and attitude can open many doors. We look forward to building on our relationship with Galbraith.”
Tom Tongs, a Senior Associate with Galbraith, said: “Galbraith is recruiting for several roles in its building consultancy division and in other parts of the firm. We benefit enormously from the skills and capabilities of former military personnel. The ability to work under pressure, handle complex and challenging situations, to communicate effectively and to understand technical detail is ideal for people starting a career in building consultancy. In return we offer the potential for career progression and personal development in a progressive firm with an interesting and varied workload.
“I am pleased to be able to work with the Officers’ Association Scotland which does such an admirable job providing tailored advice and pathways into new careers for ex-military personnel.”
The Galbraith building consultancy team provides commercial and rural construction project management as well as professional building surveying services for a wide range of clients. Expansion of the building consultancy division is a strategic priority for the firm.
