David Newton joins the firm with 13 years’ building surveying experience, having worked with a large housing association in Scotland. Earlier in his career he worked as a carpenter and joiner, before undertaking a degree in building surveying. David will be working primarily from the Stirling office, handling surveying work related to rural property on Scottish estates.
David said: “I am delighted to join the team at Galbraith and look forward to providing tailored advice to clients on a range of issues, with a focus on rural estate-based property, with some cross over into the commercial and industrial sectors.”
Alan Henderson and Chris Fulton also joined The Firm, as Graduate Building Surveyors.
Alan previously worked for a project management company and is based in the firm’s head office in Edinburgh, assisting the team across a broad range of professional and project work.
Chris began his career working in the IT sector before retraining as a Building Surveyor. On graduation from Napier University, Chris worked for a firm in Edinburgh, mainly focusing on building condition surveys for sports centres, community centres and tenement buildings. Chris is also based in the Edinburgh office.
Alan Henderson and another member of the Building Consultancy team, Josh Lamb, have recently passed the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) examination, meaning they both become fully-qualified chartered members of the RICS. Alan has now been promoted to the position of Surveyor and Josh to Senior Surveyor, in recognition of this achievement.
Peter Scott Aiton, Partner and Head of Building Consultancy at Galbraith, said: “The Firm has made its Building Consultancy division an area of strategic focus in recent years, championed by our Chief Executive Martin Cassels. Major projects such as the Highland Cinema in Fort William and Active Kids in Perthshire demonstrate the expertise of the team. I am very pleased to welcome David, Alan and Chris on board. I would also like to congratulate Alan and Josh on their recent APC success. This proves our commitment to our graduate training programme and to provide good promotion and career prospects for those within the team.”
Galbraith provides the full range of surveying and building consultancy services for commercial, rural and residential property, including: technical due diligence, project management, energy efficiency consultancy, building and condition surveys, dilapidations advice, landlord and tenant negotiations and insurance reinstatement cost assessments.
